DICT PARTNERS WITH MICROSOFT TO BOOST ICT SKILLS OF FILIPINOS

/ 3 July 2021

TO BOOST the digital knowledge of workers, the Department of Information and Communications Technology has partnered with Microsoft Corporation for a nationwide skilling project through the launch of the free learning portal.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said that program addresses the need to improve the digital readiness of Filipinos.

“The need to improve our digital readiness in the new normal is all the more pressing, especially since technological progress translates not only into the ability to participate in the digital economy, but also to an improved quality of life,” he said.

“With this, we have partnered with Microsoft to empower our workforce, especially our government employees, through this educational portal wherein they can access relevant technology-related content and advance their ICT skills,” he added.

Asynchronous, instructor-led, and mixed online courses focused on topic guides for specific digital roles are available on the DICT’s Workplace Learning & Development Platform. It provides 1,000 free lessons, 300 learning pathways, and 21 particular positions.

The comprehensive modules found on the site were produced by Microsoft, LinkedIn Learning, and GitHub.

Undersecretary Jose Arturo de Castro said that the partnership aims to empower Filipinos, especially those working in the government.

“As civil servants, upskilling their ICT capacities will be pivotal in our digital transformation efforts, especially in the government sector,” he said.

The platform and its modules can be accessed through dict.gophilippines.org.
