DEPED LAUNCHES ONLINE TUTORIAL PLATFORM FOR STUDENTS, PARENTS

/ 16 February 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Education launched ETULay, a free online tutorial platform for students and parents to improve the quality of education in the distance learning setup.

ETULay was designed based on the Most Essential Learning Competencies. It aims to provide parents and students an easier way to answer Self-Learning Modules.

It includes sessions on storytelling, wellness, mother tongue-based multilingual education, English, Filipino, Mathematics, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, and Health.

“We have to come up with creative ways in modernizing our education system and it will require the upgrade of learning delivery through the full and creative use of technology in the digital age,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said.

“This ETULay initiative is one of the many steps being taken by DepEd to ensure that this transformation happens for the benefit of our learners,” she added.

Information and Communications Technology Service-Educational Technology Unit head Mark Anthony Sy said the initiative will give parents full confidence in assisting their children, aid learners to fully understand the lesson, and help teachers in explaining the lesson.

“The lessons are delivered in tutoring format while guiding how to answer exercises and explaining the details of the lesson. Not strict in the structure of classroom format because it is really tutoring. This concept only makes tutoring online. We use StreamYard and broadcast it via Facebook and YouTube for the late viewers to review,” Sy said.

The livestream sessions of ETULay can be viewed on the official Facebook pages of DepEd Philippines, DepEd Tayo, and DepEd EdTech Unit. It will also be shown on DepEd Edtech Unit and DepEd TV’s Youtube channels.
