COMMISSION on Higher Education Chairman Prospero De Vera III confirmed that he tested positive for Covid19.

De Vera said he received his test results last January 6.

“As part of the regular health protocols we have established at home and in the office, I recently got tested for Covid19,” he said. “I am currently experiencing mild symptoms. I received my booster shot on Monday, January 3rd.”

The CHED chief advised those who were in direct contact with him to go on self-quarantine, monitor symptoms, and get tested if needed.

He also urged everyone to get their booster shots or get vaccinated as soon as possible “to reduce the risk of infection and help protect against severe illness and hospitalization due to Covid.”

On Sunday, the Philippines recorded 28,707 new cases of Covid19, the highest since the pandemic hit, bringing the country’s total to 2,965,447.

The positivity rate was also at a record high of 44 percent, the fifth straight day that the number broke records.
