ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR DEPED TV
THE DEPARTMENT of Education is all set to roll out the DepEd TV for the airing of educational programs for students especially in remote areas.
Under the program, 220 episodes will air each week covering all the subjects for Kindergarten to Grade 12 and 130 of these cover the major subjects.
It will air from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. Each episode will take 20 minutes.
The department is in the process of signing a slew of agreements with the Presidential Communications Operations Office, IBC-13, PTV-4, Cignal, GSAT, Sky Cable, Gracia Telecoms and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, Streamtech and Planet Cable, Solar, Mabuhay Pilipinas, the Philippine cable and Telecommunications Association, and GMA7 for the airing of the programs for school year 2020-2021.
These agreements will allow DepEd TV to be aired on free channels and in black boxes.
Broadcast-journalists from different networks will help train teacher-broadcasters. These include Jessica Soho, Korina Sanchez, Karen Davila, Arnold Clavio, Kara David, Sandra Aguinaldo, Abner Mercado, Jacque Manabat, Atom Araullo Kim Atienza and Mj Marfori.
“We are so pleased, and we are so touched with the degree of cooperation, assistance, and advice which we have been getting and which we are considering very, very seriously,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said.
The DepEd selected 107 teacher-broadcasters who will be assisted by 72 production personnel in taping of lessons .
DepEd started its test broadcast on IBC-13 on September 21.
