77,777 PASS LICENSURE EXAM FOR TEACHERS
THE Professional Regulation Commission announced that 23,782 elementary teachers and 53,995 secondary teachers passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers held in 37 testing centers nationwide.
PRC said 50,593 aspiring elementary teachers took the exam, but only 47.01 percent passed. It added that 16,716 of those who passed were first-timers, while 7,066 were repeaters.
Meanwhile, 95,969 aspiring secondary teachers took the exam, but only 56.26 percent passed.
Of those who passed, 39,979 were first-timers and 14,016 repeaters.
The exam was given by four members of the Board for Professional Teachers, including chairman Dr. Rosita Navarro.
The top passers for the elementary level are Dulce Angeline Hernandez Arellano and Chelsea Lipana Tiaga, who got a score of 94.40 percent. They are both from the University of Santo Tomas.
PRC declared UST and Cebu Technological University Argao as the top-performing schools with a success rate of 100 percent.
In the secondary level, UST was the best-performing school, with 139 out of 137 test takers passing, or a 98.56 percent overall passing rate.
Meanwhile, Trilbe Lizann Espina Vasquez of the University of the Philippines Cebu got the highest score for the secondary level with 94.80 percent.
