PROFESSORS from Yokohama National University in Japan recently visited the University of the Philippines Visayas for a series of academic and research engagements.

Dr. Takayuki Suzuki, Professor, and Dr. Hiroto Higa, Associate Professor, both from the Estuaries & Coastal Engineering Laboratory in the Civil Engineering Department of YNU, actively participated in various activities at UPV.

The visiting professors took part in the 39th Foundation Celebration of the School of Technology (SOTECH), UPV, where they shared their expertise in research and education.

Dr. Suzuki delivered a research presentation on coastal engineering at the Research Forum, offering valuable insights to SOTECH students and faculty.

Both Dr. Suzuki and Dr. Higa also served as judges for the 3-Minute Research Pitch Competition, evaluating students’ innovative research ideas.

In the afternoon, they paid a courtesy call to Chancellor Clement Camposano, accompanied by Dr. Johannes Magpusao, Dean of SOTECH, and Dr. Joemel Sumbing, Assistant Professor at SOTECH.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Regional Research Center (RRC) laboratories and an on-site observation along the Miagao shoreline, where the professors examined the ongoing seawall construction project.
