VISAYAS STATE U 10TH IN WEBOMETRICS RANKING OF WORLD UNIVERSITIES
THE VISAYAS State University was ranked 10th among the universities in the Philippines in the recent Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.
VSU placed 4,225th in the world and 1,453rd in Asia. It had an impact rank of 6543, openness rank of 4171, and excellence rank of 4764.
Webometrics ranked 366 universities in the Philippines.
“Our current standing, I believe is an indication that we need to continuously work hard to sustain our reputation in research and development including in the further improvement of our web visibility and providing more relevant content about our dearest VSU,” University President Edgardo Tulin said.
“I personally congratulate our hardworking team in the University Integrated Media Center led by Dr. Derek Alviola and Mr. Jed Asaph Cortes for providing the needed leadership so that we can perform well in the Webometrics Ranking,” he added.
Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines Diliman claimed the top spot in the nationwide ranking.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, the largest public research body in Spain.
Its ranking uses both webometric (all missions) and bibliometric (research mission) indicators.
The Ranking Web started in 2004 with the aim of offering full coverage of Higher Education Institutions in various countries.
It has ranked 31,000 HEIs from more than 200 countries.
