USTP LAUNCHES FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM
THE UNIVERSITY of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro launched a facial recognition system to help minimize contact amid the Covid19 pandemic.
“The technology uses a machine that has a camera and facial recognition capabilities,” the school said on its website.
“It can also determine if the person is not wearing a mask. It collects the time logs of employees and scans the temperature for monitoring,” it added.
The university said the system “promotes a contactless system much better than biometrics.”
The machine was developed by the Digital Transformation Office, USTP said.
Employees started enrolling their credentials to the new system on February 9 until March 3, 2021.
