UST LAW FACULTY, ALUMNI HELP SHAPE REVISED MODEL LAW CURRICULUM
FACULTY members and alumni of the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School of Law have been tapped as subject matter experts in the Legal Education Board’s curriculum mapping and Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) Level 8 alignment activity.
Dean Atty. Jacqueline O. Lopez-Kaw, DCL, and Atty. Kristy Jane M. Balino, DCL, took charge of labor law courses, while Atty. Irene D. Valones, DCL, handled political law, and Atty. Allesandra Fay V. Albarico, DCL, worked on civil law.
Dean Brian Jay Corpuz oversaw remedial law courses, while Atty. Ariel D. Valones, a Doctor of Civil Law student, focused on clinical legal education.
Atty. Glen R. Luansing, RN, DCL, PDSML, thesis and dissertation supervisor of the Graduate School of Law, was also designated as a technical expert in the newly established Legal Education Development Unit (LEDU), which supports law schools in meeting national education standards.
The Thomasian legal experts were tasked with helping draft and refine the Revised Model Law Curriculum course outcomes in line with PQF Level 8 descriptors, finalize Juris Doctor program outcomes and essential competencies, and map subject-level learning outcomes to program targets.
The Legal Education Board (LEB), created through Republic Act No. 7662 or the Legal Education Act of 1993, serves as the government agency that regulates legal education in the Philippines.
Through this initiative, the board seeks to ensure that law programs nationwide remain responsive to professional demands and aligned with national qualifications standards.
