UPLB POLICE FORCE RECEIVES NEW VEHICLES
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines-Los Baños Police Force’s capacity has been upgraded after it received new vehicles.
The police force got four Suzuki APV and two CF motorcycles from former UPLB Chancellor Fernando Sanchez Jr.
The acquisition of the vehicles was one of Sanchez’s last official acts before leaving his post. Sanchez’s term ended on October 31, 2020.
Dr. Glenn Gregorio and Prof. Jose Florendo, director and deputy director of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture, respectively, led the simple turnover of the vehicles.
Also present during the turnover were executive coordinator of SEARCA Beatrice L. Martinez, former assistant to the vice chancellor for community affairs Dr. Roberto Visco, and Chief Ricardo Silab of the University Police Force.
The acquisition of the new vehicles was a joint project of UPLB and SEARCA through the UPLB Foundation, Inc.
“Capacitating and equipping security personnel is one way by which UPLB strived to attain its goal of creating an enabling environment for personnel productivity and creativity,” the university said.
Sanchez also turned over two state-of-the-art ambulances to the University Health Service and a firetruck to the UPF as part of his campaign to boost security and safety in the campus.
