UP STUDENTS CALL FOR MORE INCLUSIVE GRADING SYSTEM
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines was urged to implement a ‘more inclusive’ grading system and to grant students a ‘genuine’ wellness break.
“Rather than being forced to drop the course, a more inclusive measure that the office is currently pursuing is giving a deferred grade or INC,” the Office of the Student Regent said on Facebook.
“This recognizes the dismal conditions of our students under the pandemic that narrows their opportunities to perform in the best of their abilities, honoring their cumulative efforts, despite extreme difficulty, and giving them another chance to improve upon their existing work,” it added.
The university was also asked to give students a genuine wellness break “instead of catching up on their upcoming and remaining workload.”
The student regent said it recognized and salute the relentless effort of the UP community and the student body in ensuring that no student gets left behind during these difficult times.
