AN ALUMNA of the University of the Philippines Diliman has developed an app to track the Covid19 bed capacity in hospitals.

Mara Reyes came up with the ‘Cobeds19’ app after reading reports on the difficulty of locating hospitals with vacancy for Covid19 patients.

“It started during the Holy Week after we read heart-wrenching stories of how Covid19 patients in the Philippines desperately searched for hospitals and would not even be admitted in emergency rooms and tent clinics,” Reyes, who finished her master’s degree in University of Sydney, said.

The app allows an individual to search beforehand which hospital has vacancy for Covid19 patients.

The app also provides a hospital’s address, phone number, intensive care unit capacity as well as isolation and ward beds availability.
