THE UNIVERSITY of Mindanao denounced the sexual harassment incident involving one of its faculty members and a student at its Digos College.

In a report by Bombo Radyo Davao City, the 39-year-old male professor made an “indecent proposal” to a 20-year-old female student to pass the subject.

The teacher was arrested in an entrapment operation at a lodging inn in Digos City and is facing sexual harassment and seduction charges.

UM said that it is investigating the incident.

“While no formal complaint has yet been received by the school, we have already commenced an investigation on the incident,” UM said in a statement.

“As an educational institution, the University of Mindanao treats sexual harassment as a serious offense, especially if committed by a faculty member against a student, and will definitely dismiss any employee found guilty,” it added.

The student is currently receiving counseling services.
