UCC RECEIVES ARMCHAIRS FROM THE RECYCLING INNOVATIONS OF CALOOCAN GOVERNMENT

/ 1 August 2024

THE newly-inaugurated University of Caloocan City – College of Engineering has received a total of 60 recycled armchairs provided by Caloocan’s City Environmental Management Department, with the objective of strengthening the city government’s waste management and recycling programs to respond to more specific concerns.

Using a plastic melting machine, each armchair is made with over twenty five kilograms of plastic wrappers together with five kilograms of plastic bottles.

City Mayor Dale Gonzalo ‘Along’ Malapitan congratulated the CEMD for implementing the said program. He also called on his constituents to participate in these efforts by conducting home-based waste sorting and ultimately by reducing the dependency to plastic products.

The City Mayor likewise acknowledged that the recycling program of the CEMD is directly aligned with his administration’s advocacy of finding sustainable, holistic, and long-term solutions to city-wide concerns.
