THE SURIGAO del Norte State University officially named Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa Jr. as its first president in a ceremony held at its Gymnasium in Surigao City on Wednesday.

Gamboa was elected as president in August by the SNSU Board of Trustees.

He took his oath as president in the same week.

Gamboa is not new to the post as he also served as the SSCT’s 6th president in 2016 and served a second term in 2020.

His appointment was backed by different college stakeholders, including the Commission on Higher Education Caraga and the Philippines Association of State Universities, among others.

The university picked its first president after it was granted university status by the Commission on Higher Education in June. It was previously named Surigao State College of Technology.
