SLSU RECOGNIZED FOR LITERACY-BOOSTING INITIATIVE AMONG YOUTH
THE Southern Leyte State University Tomas Oppus campus has received recognition for its efforts to help increase elementary students’ literacy in the province.
Dubbed “Project PasaKa and Partner Ko, Agaka Ko Reading Programs,” the extension project’s members were awarded as the Most Outstanding Reading Stakeholder by the Tomas Oppus District of the Department of Education, Schools Division of Southern Leyte.
SLSU said that the project name translates to ‘Nurturing the Youth through Reading,’ and “aims to cultivate a love for reading among young minds while promoting community involvement in fostering educational growth.”
“We believe that literacy is the cornerstone of academic success, and through Project PasaKa, we strive to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the youth in our community. This recognition inspires us to continue our dedication to promoting literacy and educational development,” Project head, Dr. Stella Marie D. Consul said as posted on SLSU’s website.
“Our success is a testament to our entire team’s hard work and passion. We are proud to be recognized as the Most Outstanding Reading Stakeholder by the District of Tomas Oppus, and we will continue to innovate and expand our efforts to reach even more students in the future,” Mr. Nonilon B. Consul, co-head of the program also said.
SLSU also said that they remain committed to the cause and will continue to expand the project’s reach to reach more students in the future.
The project and its stakeholders were recognized during a ceremony last Saturday, January 20, 2024.
