ROTC CADETS FINISH LEADERSHIP TRAINING
TWENTY-TWO cadets completed their leadership training under the Reserve Officer Training Course at Camp Pablo Tecson, San Miguel, Bulacan, the First Scout Ranger Regiment announced on August 30, 2022.
During their month-long training, the cadets learned tactics, techniques and procedures in leading military combat operations.
703rd Infantry Brigade commander Brig. Gen. Joseph Norwin D. Pasamonte, who served as the event’s guest of honor and speaker during the completion ceremony, said that the Officer Candidate Courses is instrumental in preparing the cadets for their future role as platoon leaders.
The OCC-ROTC program is a new officer recruitment system that takes in college graduates who have completed the Probationary Office Training Course program handled by the Reserve Command, Philippine Army.
OCC-ROTC cadets undergo an eight-month training program primarily handled by the Officer Candidate School, Training and Doctrine Command that will mold them into well-trained, well-disciplined and well-capacitated platoon leaders.
The Army leadership intends to expand the OCC-ROTC program in line with the government’s initiative to rejuvenate the ROTC program.
