QCU RECEIVES GRANT FOR OUT-OF-SCHOOL YOUTH PROJECT
THE Quezon City University has received a grant to support out-of-school youth, as part of its initiative to continue helping the youth with their education.
Dubbed the “Expanded Executive Course for Barangay Leaders on Systems Delivery Support for Out-of-School Youth,” the project aims to “support existing programs and mechanisms for Filipino” youth,” QCU said.
According to QCU, the collaborative grant which amounts to P1.9 billion under the USAID Opportunity 2.0, seeks to improve education, employment, and livelihood outcomes by 2025.
The project will involve the Department of Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, local government units, and the private sector to help 180,000 out-of-school youth and more than 5,000 teachers and trainers in a total of 15 cities in the country.
The project will conduct training courses in Quezon City districts and the Training of Trainers program in Angeles City and Pasig City.
According to QCU, this new grant is for the continuation of its successful implementation of the BLeSDS for the OSY last 2021.
The fund is sourced from the United States Agency for International Development.
An awarding ceremony was conducted last February 15, 2024, at the BE Resort in Mactan, Cebu.
