PUP SKM MOBILIZE AGAINST NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY BILL
STUDENTS of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines mobilized to oppose a bill that seeks to amend the school charter.
PUP’s Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral said that some provisions of Senate Bill 2448 or the National Polytechnic University Bill are anti-student and pro-commercialization.
The measure passed the committee level last October 18.
“Kabilang din sa mga pinangangambahan ay ang kawalan ng probisyon na poprotekta sa ating mga akademikong kalayaan, at maging ang banta ng panunumbalik ng mga tuition and other fees sa pamantasan,” the council said.
The group said it is preparing discussions and consultations to gather the concerns of the students regarding the NPU bill.
“Sama-sama nating tutulan ang pribatisasyon at komersyalisasyon ng pamantasan! Tuloy ang laban para sa mas mataas na badyet at subsidiyo,” it said.
