PUP OSR DECRY PROPOSED BUDGET CUT
THE POLYTECHNIC University of the Philippines Office of the Student Regent decried the proposal to reduce the school’s budget for 2023.
Based on the bill filed in Congress, PUP will suffer a five percent cut in its budget equivalent to P129 million.
“For PUP, this budget cut is a nightmare. Because taxpayers subsidize education in SUCs like PUP, indigent students from all over the country prefer to enroll in the university,” the group said.
“With such a small budget, how can a university that is home to 70,000+ of our youth provide an accessible, mass-oriented, and quality education? As a corollary, this unnecessary budget cut should not be approved or implemented!” it added.
The group sought the restoration of the slashed budget.
