PARENTS OF ADAMSON STUDENTS BACK EXTENSION OF CLASS SUSPENSION
PARENTS and guardians of Adamson University students are in favor of the extension of the suspension of classes and submission of requirements, a recent survey conducted by AdU’s Student Government showed on Monday.
In the survey, 100 percent or 374 parents and guardians agreed to a longer class suspension and the postponement of the deadlines for the submission of requirements.
Majority or 89.5 percent of the respondents said they have poor internet connectivity because of the aftermath of Typhoon Ulysses.
The student council shared that some respondents were not able to answer the survey because they had no internet connectivity.
Aside from internet issues, the respondents cited recurring power interruptions as another reason for their call for extended class suspension.
Some respondents said that some students had to go to the city or the town center to charge their gadgets.
“Suspension shouldn’t be only during the typhoon but should be given as well to cope with the losses the community is experiencing,” the AUSG said.
“The anxiety, demotivation, financial difficulties, overlapping priorities, and environmental situations restrictions (i.e. flood, destroyed homes, no internet signal, electric connection, etc.) should be given consideration as well,” it added.
The university earlier rejected calls for an academic break, even after Super Typhoon Rolly hit Luzon.
