NORTHWESTERN U CELEBRATES FOUNDATION DAY WITH BLOODLETTING CAMPAIGN

/ 14 February 2021

THE NORTHWESTERN University conducted a bloodletting drive as part of its 89th Foundation Day at the Aquino Multi-Purpose Center.

The project is in collaboration with the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Student volunteers from the College of Maritime Education and Criminal Justice Education participated along with NWU employees and staff.

School President Ferdinand Nicolas, who also donated blood, said it was an important activity to teach others to be selfless.

“It is an important activity. As a school, the strength and the vibrancy of the youth (contribute) to the welfare of people and us, teaching them to be selfless and to think of others. Donating blood is a small sacrifice and it will only take you 20 minutes to do it,” he said.

The activity depicted one of the university’s core values of ‘selfless service’, which meant a selfless act to serve and share one’s blood, for it means giving hope and a chance for others to further enjoy the life God has given.
