MSU-IIT STUDENT NAMED BEST PAPER PRESENTER IN INT’L CONFERENCE
A STUDENT from the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology was named the Best Paper Presenter at the 11th Annual International Conference on Environmental Science.
Zy Perpetua, a 2nd year MS in Environmental Science major, was recognized for her paper “Mesoplastics in the Sandy Beaches of Iligan City: First Documented Evidence of Mesoplastic Pollution in the Philippines.”
She bested more than 60 presenters from 15 institutions in the country.
Dr. Hernando Bacosa supervised the study.
It was made possible through a collaboration with Dr. Ruei-Feng Shiu of National Taiwan Ocean University. Other co-authors include Jemwel Aron, John Christian Bondaug, Caryl Mae Monera, Vincent Cui, Jay-Ar Villariaz, and John Earl Imperial.
The international event was organized by the Philippines Environmental Science Association, the University of the Philippines Diliman-Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology, the Association of Iligan Institute of Technology Alumni Foundation.
The ACES aims to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, foster innovative approaches to environmental problems, and promote awareness of the latest advancements and trends in environmental science.
It serves as a platform for networking, fostering partnerships, and inspiring young researchers to actively contribute to the advancement of knowledge and solutions to pressing global challenges.
