MARIANO MARCOS STATE U PROFS RECOGNIZED BY US EMBASSY
THE UNITED States Embassy in Manila commended two professors of the Mariano Marcos State University for their efforts in promoting Massive Open Online Courses.
Through its Regional English Language Office, the US State Department acknowledged Professors Gina Gaoat and Jeanette Dials, and former instructor Karla Auria Galeon as facilitators of the MOOCs during an activity dubbed Celebration of Learning.
Dr. Mee Jay Domingo, Prof. Abril Ryan Dacanay, and Emerson Salvador also received certificates for completing MOOCs.
Dr. Carleen Velez, Regional English Language officer to the Asia-Pacific Region, urged the participants to promote English teaching for global literacy.
Dr. Kirsten Dyck, who was at MMSU from 2022 to 2023, emphasized the importance of English language fellows in enhancing literacy programs.
Domingo hoped to create an alumni association for individuals who participated in US Embassy-sponsored programs in the Philippines, including completers, facilitators, and scholars.
“With the strong partnership of MMSU and the US Embassy, we expect more faculty members and non-teaching personnel to experience learning like no other – soon, they will join us in the association,” Domingo said.
