MARIANO MARCOS STATE U GETS P2-M FOR LAND USE PROJECT
THE MARIANO Marcos State University received a P2 million grant from the Commission on Higher Education for its Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan.
The fund was allocated through a memorandum of agreement spearheaded by MMSU President Shirley Agrupis and CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III last year.
Dubbed as Sirmata (Vision) 2040, the LUDIP aims to develop the university’s structures and land resources to usher in economic and social progress.
“It will serve as the university’s blueprint in setting and mobilizing its land resources and infrastructure for the next 20 years,” Agrupis explained.
“Through this project, we will update, revise, and align the MMSU’s present land use and infrastructure plan according to the requirements and prescription of Republic Act 11396 or the SUC LUDIP Act of 2019,” she added.
LUDIP will cover land use and infrastructure plans for the campuses in Batac, Laoag, Currimao, and Dingras, and the university’s reserve areas in Nagbacsan, Payao, Lubbot, and Sarnap in Batac.
RA 11396 requires SUCs to prepare and implement their LUDIP for the approval of their future infrastructure projects.
“The LUDIP project includes the benchmarking and preparation of start-up working paper; development of survey materials; consultation with concerned stakeholders; conduct of sectoral studies; hiring of consultants; data assessment and analytics; projection, planning and preparation of LUDIP documents; designing and redesigning of building perspectives; validation and finalization. After which, the final MMSU LUDIP will be submitted to CHED,” MMSU said.
Agrupis thanked CHED for choosing MMSU as one of the first state universities and colleges that received the financial grant for the LUDIP project.
