LA SALLE ALLOWS STUDENTS TO USE PREFERRED PRONOUN
THE DE LA SALLE University has allowed its students to use their preferred pronoun on their online learning platform.
The decision elated the school’s student government, which described the move as a step in guaranteeing students’ rights.
“For so long, many students have felt invalidated and unseen due to cases of misgendering within the Lasallian community,” the group said in a statement.
“Allowing students to display their pronouns in Animospace is a step towards minimizing unintentional misgendering within the Lasallian community, ensuring students’ well-being,” it added.
The group thanked the university for its decision that guarantees the dignity, rights, and freedom of expression of the Lasallian community by providing a safe learning space.
“The struggle for the rights of students to freely express their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression continue,” it said.
