FORMER UE OFFICIAL RECEIVES 2024 PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
DR. NIEVA J. Discipulo, a former principal of the University of the East Basic Education Department, has been honored with the 2024 Professional Achievement Award in Leadership and Governance by the University of the Philippines College of Education Alumni Association.
The award recognizes Dr. Discipulo’s exceptional contributions to education, particularly her pivotal role in the successful implementation of the K to 12 program during her 28-year tenure at UE.
UPCEAA commended her leadership in curriculum development, inclusive education, research, and school improvement, which have earned her widespread recognition in the education sector.
Dr. Discipulo has presented her research at prestigious international conferences such as ASAIHL, WWFEC, UNESCO, and ICTED, focusing on community revitalization, children’s and women’s welfare, and indigenous development.
Her doctoral research, “U-Belt Renewal through Culture Revitalization,” inspired the SHS Ferris Wheel Project, a multi-sectoral initiative addressing solid waste management in Manila’s University Belt.
“Even after retiring from her administrative role, she continues to mentor future educators as a professor at the UE Graduate School, exemplifying her dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration in education,” UE stated.
“Her leadership reflects a lifelong commitment to the transformative power of education and its role in shaping communities,” it added.
