/ 5 March 2023

A DE LA SALLE University Dasmariñas professor was elected as chairperson of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

Dr. Emmanuel Calario replaced Dr. Rene Escalante, who administered his oath-taking ceremony last month.

DLSU-D commended Calario for his appointment as chairperson of NHCP, saying such role is a testament to his work, dedication, and expertise in the field of history.

“It is an honor to have one of our esteemed faculty and administrator lead the commission and contribute to the preservation of our nation’s rich history and cultural heritage,” the university said.

“As you take on this new challenge, we are confident that your leadership will bring about positive changes in the commission’s initiatives and programs. Your passion for history and your commitment to excellence will undoubtedly guide you in fulfilling your new role,” it added.

Calario spent his decades-long career advocating for research, education, and preservation of Philippine history and culture.

He served as president of the Philippine Historical Association from 2014 to 2018 and was previously appointed as commissioner of the NHCP.
