CSU, PROJECT CARAGA INK PARTNERSHIP TO SUPPORT INDIGENOUS STUDENTS
CARAGA State University has partnered with Project Caraga Group Inc. to strengthen support for indigenous peoples students.
A memorandum of agreement was signed earlier this year to formalize the collaboration.
“This partnership strengthens CSU’s extension mandate through community programs, student welfare monitoring, and collaboration with PCGI’s 10 CADT partner communities, affirming both institutions’ commitment to the academic success, growth, and empowerment of IP students—relevant to SDGs No. 4 (Quality Education) and No. 17 (Partnerships for the Goals),” CSU said.
Under the agreement, qualified IP scholars will receive monthly living allowances and dormitory accommodations, easing barriers to inclusive education and community participation.
CSU’s College of Education will mentor and monitor the scholars through KAHIUSA, an extension project led by Dr. Maris T. Lasco of the Mathematics and Science Education Departments.
The program will provide tutoring, remedial sessions, study groups, and time-management workshops for IP students, parents, para-teachers, and IPEd teachers—particularly in Mathematics and Science—to help strengthen learning foundations and support lifelong development.
PCGI, a non-profit organization led by CEO Richard Loi, supports the initiative through its philanthropic network of local and international donors.
