COMPOSTELA VALLEY STATE COLLEGE DITCHES SINGLE-USE PLASTIC

/ 12 January 2021

AS PART of its commitment to protect the environment, the Compostela Valley State College has banned the use of single-use plastics.

The ban will be enforced in all of the school’s campuses.

“In complementary with Republic Act 8679 or the Clean Air Act, the Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2001 has been enacted. Pursuant thereto, the Compostela Valley State College supports the Zero Waste Approach by implementing “NO SINGLE-USE POLICY” across all campuses (Compostela, Maragusan, Montevista, and New Bataan),” CVSC said on Facebook.

CVSC said that the initiative will also give waste workers additional source of income through recycling.

“Under this approach, recyclables are reused and recycled and become a source of livelihood for waste workers as well. CVSC shall continue to deal with the unmanageable plastic residuals. Let’s Go for Zero Waste!” it added.

Last year, students of the CVSC Compostela Branch paraded their costumes online made from recyclable materials to flaunt their creativity and show their regard for the environment.
