CENTRAL LUZON STATE U HELPS STOCK FISH IN NUEVA ECIJA TOWNS

/ 31 August 2021

THE CENTRAL Luzon State University and the Department of Agriculture partnered with the local government of Cuyapo and Llanera in Nueva Ecija to help fisherfolks in the province.

The university said that the project aims to increase fish productivity in communities that rely on the Paitan Lake and Vaca Dam.

It helped stockpile 94,000 multi-species of fish — 40,000 Nile tilapia, 12,000 mudfish, and 42,000 carp.

“The fisherfolks and local communities who are relying on these bodies of water as a source of food directly benefit from stock enhancement activities,” CLSU said on its website.

“Moreover, the team demonstrated the use of various water quality equipment such as thermometer, DO meter, pH meter, Secchi disc, and plankton net,” it added.

The CLSU also helped analyze the water quality in the lake and dam as pat of the project.
