A TOTAL of 532 poor students from Benguet province have received cash assistance to help them with their studies.

According to Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas, the student-beneficiaries of the program receive P10,000 each semester until graduation.

Of the 532 students, Diclas said most beneficiaries are enrolled in Benguet State University.

Diclas said that they now have one scholar per barangay under the program and aim to increase the number further, during BSU’s 38th charter anniversary.

“…this was one of the programs we prioritized to improve, and so in 2020 we were able to increase the number of slots for students who can avail of this program,” Diclas said on his website.

He also said that the program currently supports 39 medical students and has produced doctors.
