ADAMSON ADOPTS HYBRID LEARNING
THE ADAMSON University will implement a hybrid flexible learning modality for the first semester of Academic Year 2022-2023.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Catherine Castañeda said the HyFlex is a learning approach wherein some students attend face-to-face classes while others join the same classes virtually.
“Teachers will then hold classes for in-person and online students at the same time. Online students are also given the choice to attend synchronous classes at their most convenient location,” Castañeda said.
“Supplemental asynchronous learning activities will also be provided to optimize student learning experience,” she added.
College courses will be conducted on HyFlex from August to December 2022.
For lecture courses of 40 students, half will attend physical classes, while the other half will attend online lessons either from school premises or at home.
A weekly rotation will ensure that each half will be able to experience both modes of learning.
Meanwhile, courses with 30 or fewer students will be given a full face-to-face learning arrangement with the exception of NSTP classes, which will be conducted purely online.
Castañeda said that major exams under the HyFlex setup will be taken onsite.
On the other hand, Graduate School and College of Law students will have purely online learning modality for the entire semester except those who are taking thesis and dissertation courses.
The Basic Education Department and Senior High School will shift to in-person classes at full capacity after October 31, 2022, pursuant to the Department of Education’s order.
In the event that Covid19 cases surge, she said the university will automatically revert to synchronous online learning.
