22 October 2021

One of the major activities of SBES for AY 2021-2022 is the Web-Econ: Webinar Series. In preparation for the Philippine National Elections on May 2022, the SBES will be holding a Webinar about: “Bantay Ballot 2022: Protecting the Philippine National Elections” on the 23rd of October 2021 via Zoom Video Conference. The conference will gather 250-300 student-participants from San Beda University and other Institutions via Zoom Meeting.

The Bantay Ballot 2022 webinar will be divided into two discussions. The first topic is about “Protecting Our Voices: Vigilance and Responsible Voting in the National Elections during the Pandemic” which will be discussed by Atty. Chel Diokno, a staunch advocate of Human Rights and the Chairman of the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG). This topic is about enlightening the registered voters about the different ways that they can uphold the integrity of the 2022 national elections through vigilance and informed decision making and by encouraging the registered voters to actively participate in social reform through exercising their right to vote.

On the other hand, the second part of the Bantay Ballot 2022 webinar is about ““COMELEC’s Safeguard Regulations against Electoral Fraud in the 2022 National Elections” which will be discussed by Atty. Kimberly Joy Alzate-Cu, a staunch advocate of honest, accountable, and peaceful national elections and also the COMELEC City Election Supervisor of Muntinlupa, City. Her discussion will focus more on engaging the youth to sustain essential dialogues about the integrity of Commission of Elections and in enlightening them with the policies that will safeguard every Filipino’s votes.

Together, Atty. Diokno and Atty. Alzate are fit to substantially discuss the aforementioned topics as they can discuss both the matters in upholding voting rights and spotting voting violations on the Philippine National Elections. Furthermore, the discussion will ensure that the objective of the program will meet the expectations of the audience which is to ensure that everyone’s voices will be heard and safeguarded.
