MAPUA UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES NEW SETS OF TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS, PROFESSIONALS

/ 16 January 2021

The Center for Continuing Education and Special Competencies of Mapua University will offer new sets of training programs to support students and professionals in pursuit of expertise and career growth.

The center will have an online launch for its three new training academies, namely, the Project Management Academy, Cybersecurity Academy, and the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly Academy, with each having its own roster of training programs geared toward career paths and specializations in the aforementioned fields.

“The academies are consortiums of training programs to be delivered by the University’s partners and individual lecturers who have vast experience locally and internationally in their respective industries,” Mapua said.

The Cybersecurity Academy, which was opened in 2020, offers training programs covering the fundamentals of data and system security, which include threat intelligence, network security, digital forensic, configuration, and risk management, among others.

The Project Management Academy features tracks on Business Analysis, Project Management, Building Design and Construction, Program Management, Portfolio Management, Agile Management, and Six Sigma.

Each track is composed of various training programs that hasten students and professionals’ understanding of and skills in essential company or industry business procedures.

The Design for Manufacturing and Assembly Academy has 18 programs that aim to create a wide-range of career paths within construction and related industries.

The programs teach principles in the context of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Ecosystem and Design of Fabrication and will connect design and construction practitioners to engineers to enable modeling within real-world manufacturing constraints, making it digital to avoid arbitrary production.

“Students who will complete the training programs will gain technical skills to start a career in any of the related fields and to move up in a variety of roles available in the academies. For corporate clients, the training is a good investment, as employees who undergo the programs are assured to have trained based on their specific roles in their companies,” the university said.

“Taking up career path programs will also give trainees the opportunity to pursue advanced studies particularly a Master of Science Degree related to their fields, as some of the programs in the academies belong to Mapua’s Microcredential Program,” it added.

The Microcredential Program provides units that can be credited in a related MS program. The equivalent MS degree units are valid for two years upon date of completion of the program.

A certificate of attendance or completion will be awarded to the trainee, as well as a certification indicating the MS equivalent units to be credited.

The Academies’ programs are open to both local and foreign learners, as it will be offered in online, face-to-face, or blended mode.

Learners will be guided in identifying courses to take that will help them specialize in a role that they would like to assume in a workplace.
