The Alyansa ng Kabataang Mamamahayag of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines is asking for donations to help a campus journalist who will need funds for her surgery.

AKM on Friday said that Genevieve Feliciano from The Catalyst, the official student publication of the university, is scheduled to undergo brain decompression surgery next week.

Her expected bill is around P400,000-500,000.

“She has maximized her capacity to respond to the needs of the publication, may it be in designing, photography, videography, and even social media management. Campus journalists like Gen have shown us that our decision to write, to struggle, and to choose, has always been in the line of fire,” AKM said on its Facebook page.

“AKM-PUP calls on our fellow campus journalists, Iskolars ng Bayan, and the whole PUP Community to help us raise funds for Genevieve’s operation. Let us all unite and help each other in these trying times,” it added.
