BICOL UNIVERSITY WAIVES ENTRANCE EXAM FOR 1ST SEMESTER OF A.Y. 2021-2022

/ 12 January 2021

The Bicol University has waived the College Entrance Test for first year applicants for the 1st semester of the Academic Year 2021-2022.

Instead of the usual BUCET, students will be asked to accomplish a Personal Information Sheet and an Application Portfolio, which shall be attested by the Class Adviser and School Principal of the student.

“Applicants will be evaluated holistically in terms of the university’s core values which are scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The university will organize a panel of evaluators per college, who will manually assess all requirements submitted,” BU said.

The application period for the 1st semester of A.Y. 2021-2022 is from January 12, 2021, to March 12, 2021.

The submission of requirements can be done through online through Google Forms available at the BU website; courier addressed to BU Admissions Office; face-to-face submission to the BUAO; or through drop boxes in designated guardhouses of the BU campuses.

Meanwhile, BU said that scholarships will be assessed through the General Weighted Average of the student in his or her junior and senior high school level which will comprise 70 percent of the total admission evaluation.

“The rest of the core values will be assessed through the portfolios submitted by the student which will comprise 30 percent of the total admission evaluation,” the university said.

Interested applicants vying for scholarships must submit an extra-curricular profile; community engagement, leadership, and advocacy; part-time work; competitive awards and citations; and a sample portfolio showing excellence in the sciences, humanities, arts, sports, photography, woodworking, composing music, writing poetry, short stories and essays, culinary arts, and technology.
