PASIG MAYOR TO CITY SCHOLARS: YOU ARE NOT INDEBTED TO ANYONE
PASIG City Mayor Victor Ma. Regis ‘Vico’ Sotto reminded city scholars that they should not feel indebted to anyone, especially politicians.
“Mabuhay ang mga iskolar ng Pasig! Laging tandaan na wala tayong utang na loob kahit kanino (lalo na sa politiko) dahil pera ito ng taumbayan. Mag-aral lang kayo nang mabuti at sulit na ang investment ng lungsod sa inyo,” Sotto said in his Twitter post Friday night.
The local government has 18,200 scholars this school year.
“For those who haven’t received a text yet please be patient as our scholarship office staff work double-time to finish processing all applications. Thank you and congrats to our new scholars!” Sotto said.
The local government has recently launched its arts and design scholarship with a pilot batch of 50 students from Rizal High School.
The young public servant also said that they will implement relaxed rules this semester because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Sotto also said that scholars’ allowance will be distributed via PayMaya to follow social distancing protocol.
“Cash cards [are] under process…with QR codes (for Pasig pass and readying for future use e.g. Smart City transactions),” Sotto added.
