VISAYAS STATE UNIVERSITY GETS 3-STAR RATING
THE VISAYAS State University has secured a 3-star rating from the QS Star World University Rankings, certifying the reputable level of its research and graduates.
VSU was rated on the following criteria: teaching (five stars); employability (four stars); facilities (four stars); social responsibility (five stars); academic development (four stars); internationalization (four stars); inclusiveness (four stars); program strength education (three stars).
The school said it could have gotten a higher rating if it had more foreign students.
“We could have qualified already for 4 Stars, but unfortunately it’s the number of foreign students that we lack, which is a minimum requirement. That’s what we are striving for now,” VSU President Edgardo E. Tulin said.
Out of 1,000 points, the university got 584 points, higher than the 4-star requirement of 550.
Tulin said that the school will improve areas of weakness and that officials are looking forward to the next reassessment.
QS Star is an international rating website that gives a detailed look at schools for students who are searching for prospective universities.
