DEPED POSTPONES SCHOOL SAFETY DRILL TO NEXT WEEK
THE DEPARTMENT of Education (DepEd) has postponed the scheduled school safety drill to next week following the suspension of face-to-face classes in several areas due to inclement weather.
In an advisory, DepEd said it received reports of class cancellations in various parts of the country as adverse weather conditions continue to affect school operations.
The department said the postponement would also give officials additional time to consolidate expert recommendations and review evidence-based practices to further strengthen the conduct of the safety drill.
DepEd said it will issue a formal advisory providing details on the rescheduled activity within the day.
Meanwhile, all DepEd field offices were directed to immediately coordinate with their counterparts from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in preparation for the activity.
The school safety drill is expected to proceed next week, subject to the guidelines and schedule to be provided in the formal advisory.
