MANILA EYES EXPULSION POLICY FOR STUDENTS WHO VIOLATE SCHOOL SAFETY RULES

/ 28 June 2026

MANILA Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is considering a policy that would expel public school students found carrying weapons, engaging in riots, or found guilty of bullying as part of efforts to strengthen discipline and enhance campus safety.

Under a proposed city ordinance, students expelled for committing these serious offenses would no longer be allowed to enroll in any public school in the City of Manila.

Moreno said the measure aims to provide a safer learning environment for students, teachers, and school personnel by imposing tougher sanctions on major violations committed on school grounds.

The proposal will be taken up during a meeting of the Manila School and Community Safety Task Force, which is expected to review additional school safety measures, including the possible expulsion of students involved in riots, bullying, or possession of weapons.

The initiative comes as city officials move to tighten security protocols and reinforce discipline in Manila’s public schools following growing concerns over campus safety.

The proposed ordinance has yet to be finalized and remains subject to deliberation by the task force.
