/ 6 June 2026

SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the quality of education in the Philippines, emphasizing the need for sustained investments and adequate funding to support both learners and educators.

Gatchalian said efforts to raise the standard of education in the country remain a priority, noting that government support has been secured this year for key programs aimed at addressing the needs of the education sector.

“Continuing the mission to elevate the state of education in the country,” the senator said, underscoring the importance of strengthening learning outcomes and enhancing educational services nationwide.

He stressed that sufficient funding for education programs is critical to ensuring that students receive quality learning opportunities while teachers are provided with the resources and support they need to perform effectively.

“These programs will address the needs of students and teachers, toward the advancement of the education sector,” Gatchalian said.

The lawmaker also expressed his gratitude to the Asia-Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators for inviting him and for its continued support in helping shape a brighter future for Filipino youth.

According to Gatchalian, collaboration among policymakers, educators, researchers, and academic institutions is essential in developing evidence-based solutions to the challenges facing the country’s education system.

He noted that partnerships with research and educational organizations contribute significantly to the formulation of policies and initiatives that can improve access to quality education and promote better learning outcomes.

Gatchalian has long been an advocate of education reforms, championing measures aimed at enhancing basic and higher education, improving literacy and numeracy, strengthening teacher development, and expanding access to quality learning opportunities for all Filipino students.
