PBBM APPROVES 2-YEAR EXTENSION OF EDCOM 2
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed into law a measure extending the life of the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) for another two years.
Republic Act No. 12315 amends Republic Act No. 11899, allowing the commission to continue its work beyond its original three-year mandate, which ended in December 2025.
The extension enables EDCOM 2 to pursue further research and consultations and to oversee the implementation of the National Education and Workforce Development Plans.
The law states that the commission will continue coordinating with key agencies, including the Department of Education (Philippines), Commission on Higher Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Department of Health (Philippines), as well as Congress and other partners.
The goal is to strengthen education reforms and better align learning programs with the country’s workforce and development needs.
