SENATOR: STUDENT CENTER AT PSU A MILESTONE PROJECT TO STRENGTHEN STUDENT WELFARE

23 February 2026

SENATOR Risa Hontiveros led the inauguration of a newly completed P10-million Student Center at Pangasinan State University (PSU) Bayambang Campus, marking a milestone project aimed at strengthening student welfare and engagement.

The Student Center, requested by PSU Bayambang’s Supreme Student Council, was realized through Hontiveros’ assistance.

University officials and student leaders welcomed the facility, describing it as a dedicated space for student activities, meetings, and services that will enhance campus life and promote a more supportive academic environment.

During the inauguration program, Hontiveros underscored the importance of investing in safe and accessible spaces where students can organize, collaborate, and access support services.

She emphasized that student participation remains vital in shaping responsive and inclusive educational institutions.

True to her roots as a former community organizer, Hontiveros also held a public consultation following the ceremony.

She met with students, solo parents, farmers, and representatives of other basic sectors to hear their concerns firsthand.

Participants raised issues ranging from education funding and youth opportunities to agricultural support and social services for solo parents.

The senator assured attendees that their insights would help inform her legislative priorities and advocacy work in the Senate.

University officials expressed gratitude for the new facility, noting that the Student Center stands not only as a physical structure but also as a symbol of collaboration between student leaders and national government partners.

The PSU Bayambang Student Center is expected to immediately serve thousands of students enrolled at the campus, providing a central hub for academic support, student governance, and community-building activities.
