CARAGA STATE U OPENS FIRST-EVER SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, WELCOMES 38 PIONEER STUDENTS

26 July 2025

CARAGA  State University officially launched its School of Medicine and Doctor of Medicine program on Friday, marking a significant milestone in improving access to medical education in the region.

During a press conference, CSU President Dr. Rolyn Daguil introduced the 38 pioneering students who will begin classes this academic year. He emphasized that the initiative aims to address the shortage of healthcare professionals and limited access to quality medical training in Caraga.

“This is a bold step to bridge the healthcare gap in our region,” Daguil said, noting that the program will equip future doctors through a blend of academic rigor and hands-on clinical training.

The new medical school boasts a faculty roster composed of seasoned professionals from top medical institutions and has established partnerships with hospitals and local communities to support real-world medical experience.

Planning for the medical program began in 2020, and under Daguil’s leadership, CSU successfully met all the requirements set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), which gave its approval in January 2025.

The program also received strong support from local government units, the Department of Health, and partner hospitals, paving the way for the establishment of CSU’s first-ever medical school.
