ALYANSA SENATORIAL BET CALLS FOR STRONGER FOCUS ON EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
ALYANSA Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidate and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay emphasized the critical role of early childhood education in shaping the academic foundation of Filipino children, urging greater investment and attention to day care centers across the country.
Binay said that learning must begin at a young age, long before children enter the formal school system.
“We need to focus on our day care centers because children, even before reaching Grade 1, should already enjoy reading and have a basic understanding of Math,” she stressed.
Binay added that by the time students reach Grade 3, they should be proficient in reading and demonstrate strong skills in both English and Math.
She pointed out that foundational learning during early childhood years plays a vital role in academic success and future development.
The mayor’s call aligns with ongoing national efforts to improve literacy rates and address learning gaps caused by the pandemic.
Education advocates and local government units have been working to expand access to early education and improve the quality of services in community-based child development centers.
Mayor Binay has previously supported various education and child welfare initiatives in Makati, a city recognized for its investment in early learning, student scholarships, and digital learning tools.
