THE DEPARTMENT of Education confirmed that the principal who ordered students to remove their togas during a graduation ceremony in Antique has been temporarily transferred to another Schools Division Office.

“Kinukumpirma ng Department of Education (DepEd) na inalis na sa kanyang mga tungkulin sa paaralan ang punong-guro na naiuugnay sa insidente sa isang graduation ceremony sa Antique,” DepEd said in a statement.

“Pansamantala siyang inilipat sa Schools Division Office (SDO) habang isinasagawa ang mas masusing imbestigasyon at pinaiiral ang due process.”

The Assistant Regional Director of Region 6 will serve as the officer-in-charge of the school.

A video of Venus Divinia Nietes, principal of Col. Ruperto Abellon National School, went viral after she asked students to remove their togas during the April 15 end-of-school-year ceremony.
