DEPED INKS PARTNERSHIP WITH NEA
THE DEPARTMENT of Education has partnered with the National Electrification Administration to provide reliable electricity to Last Mile Schools.
According to DepEd, the goal of the partnership is to ensure that Last Mile Schools in underserved areas have access to a consistent and reliable power supply.
The initiative may be funded through government allocations, grants, or other financial mechanisms.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara emphasized that this initiative would provide hope for students by improving their learning environment.
“In the past, power has given us access, power has provided entertainment, and power has facilitated commerce and e-commerce. What we are giving now is not just electricity or light, but hope for our people,” he said.
NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda shared that the initiative is a step toward addressing an important aspect of development— ensuring children’s welfare while studying.
“This moment reflects a shared vision and a unified effort to address one of the most crucial aspects of development— ensuring that every child, no matter how remote their location, has access to the transformative power of modern education,” he said.
