For the upcoming season 2020–2021 of the Japan V. Premier League, Alyja Daphne “Jaja” Santiago will be playing again for Ageo Medics for her third straight year.

Santiago shared the good news on Facebook and Instagram where she also expressed her gratitude towards her volleyball mother club, Chery Tiggo Crossovers, for their support in her decision to come back for another season with Ageo Medics.

“I’m very happy kasi syempre my Chery family sinuportahan nila ako all throughout my career dito sa Pilipinas and yung sa naging desisyon ko para pumirma sa Ageo Medics ulit,” Santiago shared.

Her Japan V. League experience was sweeter the second time around as the volleybelle clinched its historic bronze medal finish with Ageo Medics making her the first Filipina to win a medal in an international league.

It is no doubt that the 6-foot-5 middle blocker played a huge part in Ageo Medics’ third-place podium finish last season of the league where she recorded 137 attack points during the preliminaries.

The Saitama based squad tallied a 13-8 win-loss record allowing them to advance in the Final 8. Their semifinals match was against JT Marvelous where they unfortunately lost. It then settled with Denso Airybees for their battle for third.

Santiago was supposedly up for the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix with the Crossovers when she came back to the country last February. To her regret, the tournament was called off due to the COVID-19 scare.

She admitted she missed her teammates and coaches and promised to appear again on the volleyball court together with the other players once everything will be back to normal.

’Pag nakabalik na lahat sa normal makikita niyo ulit kami, ako, sa Philippine volleyball court lumalaban, nakikipagpatayan sa laro.”

As the new season for the V-League will be kicking off in October, Santiago is expected to fly back to Japan soon to start her training with the team.
