SOLON ELATED OVER ENACTMENT OF LAWS DEVELOPING YOUNG TALENT IN SPORTS AND THE ARTS IN BAGUIO CITY
BAGUIO City Rep. Mark Go has expressed his support for the recent enactment of two laws aimed at nurturing young talent in sports and the arts in Baguio City and the broader Northern Luzon region.
The two laws, Republic Acts 12118 and 12119, establish the Baguio City Sports High School and the Baguio City High School for the Arts, respectively.
Go, who was the primary author and sponsor of the bills, hailed the measures as a significant step toward providing specialized education and training for students with exceptional abilities in these fields.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed RA 12118 and RA 12119 into law, officially enabling the creation of these institutions.
RA 12119 mandates the establishment of the Baguio City Sports High School, which will cater to students with promising athletic potential. The school will offer a general secondary education curriculum alongside specialized programs in physical education and sports, designed to help students develop their athletic talents.
In contrast, RA 12118 establishes the Baguio City High School for the Arts, intended to nurture young Filipinos with exceptional skills in the cultural and artistic fields. The school will provide a specialized education, allowing students to refine their abilities in music, theater, dance, and visual arts.
Go emphasized that both schools will offer students comprehensive training and opportunities to excel in their respective fields, contributing to the growth of Filipino athletes and artists.
He expressed gratitude to President Marcos for recognizing the need for such institutions and noted that the new schools would create significant opportunities for the youth in Baguio and Northern Luzon.
Go also pointed out that these laws would create structured pathways for students to receive quality education and training, leading to more opportunities both locally and internationally.
